Hey Ryan! This is long, but a lot of it is one-line answers and plenty you can skip if it doesn't apply.

One thing before you start:

The starred questions are the important ones. Your answers there become the actual copy on the site, so the more detail you give me, the more it sounds like you. Two or three sentences is plenty. Rambling is even better.

Answer in any order. Skip anything that doesn't apply.

Your progress saves as you go, but only on this device and browser. Come back on the same phone or computer to pick up where you left off. Starting over somewhere else means starting from scratch.

On timing: Friday, August 21st is my deadline for getting this back, and anything sooner is a huge help. That's the day you're meeting with your accountant, so the business name should be settled by then too. Everything I build comes straight out of your answers here, so the earlier I have them, the more time I get to spend on the actual work.

The basics

1What's the exact legal name and setup of the business? LLC, sole prop, something else? If your accountant meeting settles this, just send it over after.

2What year did you start the business?

3How many years have you been an electrician total, including apprenticeship?

4What's your license level? Apprentice, journeyman, master?

5What's your license number and which state or municipality issued it? This goes in the footer and it's a real trust signal.

6Are you insured and bonded, and what coverage amounts can I state publicly?

How people reach you

7Do you have a separate business phone number? If not, are you open to getting one? I'd recommend it. Your cell will get scraped by spam.

8Can that number receive texts?

9Do you have set business hours, or are you a 24-hour emergency kind of deal?

10If you take emergency calls, is there an after-hours rate, and do you want it stated on the site?

11How fast do you typically respond to a new inquiry? Same day, within an hour, next morning?

12Rank these by how much you actually want people to use them: phone call, text, contact form, online booking calendar.

13 ★Which one of those do you dread, and why? I'm not going to build the thing that makes you want to throw your phone. If a booking calendar sounds like a nightmare because your days shift constantly, tell me that and it doesn't go on the site.

16 ★Complete brain dump: every service you offer. Don't organize it, don't edit it, don't worry about repeating yourself. Just list everything you've been paid to do in the last year. Twenty items is a good target. I'll sort it out.

17Roughly what percentage residential, commercial, industrial?

18Roughly what percentage new construction, remodel, service and repair?

19Do you sub for general contractors or builders, or is it all direct to homeowners?

20 ★Which services do you want MORE of, and what makes them good? Is it the money, the type of customer, the fact that you're not crawling through an attic in July? Rank your top five if you can. These get the biggest real estate on the site and the most attention in Google, so I want to know which ones actually pay.

21 ★What kind of work are you actually best at? Not what pays most, not what you get called for most. What's the job where you know you're better than the next guy?

22What's the single most common job you get called for?

23Do you have the Tesla Wall Connector certification? I saw jeffdaviselectric.com leading with it and it's a great differentiator.

24Any other certifications or manufacturer authorizations? Generac, Kohler, EV charger brands, solar, smart home, low voltage, generators, anything.

25Do you pull permits, or does the customer handle that?

26Do you offer a warranty or guarantee, and what are the terms?

27Anything you're planning to add in the next year?

Money and process

28Are estimates free, or do you charge?

29Do you have a diagnostic or service call fee?

30 ★Do you want any pricing on the site, even "starting at" ranges? Homeowners respond really well to it and it filters out tire kickers, but some guys hate it. Tell me which camp you're in and why.

31Flat rate or hourly?

32What payment methods do you take? Card, check, Venmo, Zelle, cash?

33Do you offer financing on bigger jobs like panel upgrades? Interested in it?

34Do you require a deposit on larger jobs?

35 ★Walk me through a normal job from the second the phone rings to the second you drive away. Every step, including the boring ones. Something like: they call, I ask what's going on, I can usually tell over the phone if it's a same-day thing, I text when I'm on the way, I look at it and give a price before I touch anything, and so on. This becomes the "how it works" section, and it's one of the biggest trust builders on a trades site because people are scared of surprises.

Your customers

Heads up, this section is where your actual website copy comes from. It's worth slowing down here.

36 ★Describe the job you'd take every single day if you could. Who's the customer, what's the job, what's it pay, what part of town is it in?

37 ★Now the opposite. Describe the job you dread. What makes it bad?

38What's the typical dollar range of a job for you? What's the smallest and the biggest you've done?

39 ★Why do people pick you over the other guys? Not the polite answer. What do you actually think it is? If you've ever heard a customer say "I called three people and you were the only one who ___", fill in that blank.

40 ★What do customers say to you when the job's done? Anything you hear over and over? Even something small like "you cleaned up after yourself" or "you actually showed up when you said you would" is useful. Give me the three or four things you hear most.

41 ★What are people nervous about before they hire an electrician? What do they ask before you've even quoted anything? Things like "is this dangerous," "how much is this going to cost me," "are you licensed," "how long will the power be off." List as many as you can remember. Every one of these becomes an FAQ that ranks on Google.

42 ★Tell me about a time you got called in to fix another electrician's bad work. What was wrong, what did you find, how'd it end? These stories are gold and nobody else in your market is telling them.

43 ★What's a job you're genuinely proud of? Doesn't have to be big or expensive, just one that felt good. Tell me the story.

44 ★What's something you find yourself explaining to customers over and over because they don't get it? Panel capacity, why knob and tube is a problem, why the cheap quote isn't actually cheaper, whatever it is. I want to turn these into content that makes you look like the expert.

45 ★I know your business is purely word of mouth right now. Who was your last customer, and where did they come from? Any insight into who's referring you and what your customers say about you will help a lot. If you can walk me back through the last few jobs and where each one came from, even better.

Competition

46Who are the other electricians in the area you're up against? Names, and their websites if they have them.

47 ★Go look at two or three of their sites. What do you like, and what makes you think "that's stupid"? You don't need design language, just react. "Too corporate," "looks fake," "I don't know what they even do," all useful.

48 ★Same thing with these. I pulled a few electrician sites in the same lane as what we're building so I can get a read on your taste. Tell me what you like and don't like about each:

49 ★What can you do or offer that your competitors can't or won't?

50 ★Have you lost a job to someone specific recently? What do you think happened? Price, speed, they had a fancier setup, they answered the phone and you didn't?

51Is there anyone locally in ANY trade, not just electrical, whose branding or signage you think is sharp? Plumber, HVAC, roofer, whoever.

Brand and personality

52I showed you the logo concept in white, black, and yellow. Are you open to other colors, or does yellow feel right? Anything you specifically hate?

54Pick three to five: friendly, no-nonsense, funny, premium, dependable, local, meticulous, fast, honest, old-school, modern.

55 ★Now pick one from that list you specifically do NOT want to be, and tell me why. This one matters more than the ones you picked.

56 ★Two directions we could take the writing on the site. One is a little funny and casual, where it sounds like you talking. The other is clean and straightforward, all business, no jokes. Which one feels more like you, and why?

57Are you comfortable being the face of the business? Your photo, your name, your story on the About page? Or would you rather it feel like a company?

58 ★How'd you get into this? What were you doing before, why electrical, and why go out on your own instead of working for somebody? This is the About page, and it's usually the second-most-visited page on a site like this.

59Is there anything about you personally you'd want people to know? Family, where you grew up, how long you've been in the area, a dog that rides in the truck, whatever. People hire people.

60Any tagline ideas floating in your head, even bad ones?

61 ★Is there anything you'd hate for your website to sound like? Any ad, competitor, or company that makes you cringe?

Proof and photos

62Start this one today, it takes the longest. We need five to ten reviews for the site and for your Google listing once I set it up. Can you reach out to past customers and gather written feedback? Even a few sentences over text works. Text me the screenshots as they come in. If it's easier, I can build you a quick form to send them.

63 ★I want to show your actual work instead of stock photos. Text me every jobsite photo or video on your phone, good or bad. Panel swaps, clean runs, before-and-afters, finished lighting. Rough phone pics are fine. Send them in batches whenever.

64Are there any past customers who'd let me feature photos of their home or business on the site?

65Any awards, chamber memberships, trade associations, or affiliations?

66Veteran-owned, family-owned, anything similar you'd want highlighted?

67Roughly how many jobs have you done or customers have you served? A rough number is fine. Numbers on a homepage convert.

68Link your work-related social media accounts, if any. Business pages only, not your personal profiles. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, whatever exists. One link per box.
